Support, Mentoring & Counselling

WG6 are committed to providing opportunities and support for students to develop skills which will enable them to take responsibility for their own learning and lives. Few of us are able to work effectively when stressed or unhappy therefore we have support staff offering a mentoring service to provide support for those students who may need extra support in developing independent learning skills and maintaining their wellbeing.

Mrs Regan and Mrs Wheatley, WG6 Student Managers, offers drop-in sessions throughout the school week where students can raise concerns.  Details of these sessions are advertised within the form rooms.  If a specific 1-1 session is required students can access this by emailing Mrs Regan on aregan@wgsb.co.uk or Mrs Wheatley on swheatley@wgsg.co.uk.

We also have access to a part time Counsellor and a dedicated team of teaching staff, to advise, monitor and support students who might be struggling with the demands of 'A' level study. Remember that counsellors at Childline are always available and their message boards can help you to find out what other young people might have to say.

Useful information can also be found on the Know How Library, a tool on the Unifrog platform. The Know How Library is an easily searchable library of 100s of expert guides, covering every aspect of the progression process and wellbeing.

Kooth – Online Mental Health Counselling

As an early intervention solution, Kooth helps to reduce waiting times for young people seeking help while removing the stigma associated with accessing mental health support.
